Product Engineer, Startup School (San Francisco, CA)

Y Combinator started Startup School two years ago as a way to help as many startups and founders as possible. Over 30,000 companies and 40,000 founders participated in 2019 — our largest cohort ever. We are looking to scale Startup School’s impact even further by hiring a product engineer on our small YC software team.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and build out new features in entirety, including video office hours, AMAs, event planning, forums and more
  • Scope and prioritize items on the Startup School roadmap alongside YC partners and others on the team
  • Analyze usage and engagement with an eye for improving the participant experience
  • Learn a ton about startups: from technology to business to fundraising to growth and everything in between

Community Manager, Startup School (San Francisco, CA)

We’re looking for a driven and enthusiastic community support manager who can help make Startup School an even better experience as it continues to grow in 2020 and beyond. Your core responsibility will be to provide a delightful founder experience by managing inbound support requests and moderating our community forum. As the voice for the founders in Startup School, you’ll help identify key needs and play a direct part in improving the program to better serve the community.

Additionally, the Startup School team is very small and we all wear a lot of hats. Beyond your core responsibilities, you can expect to be involved in other tasks within Startup School and the wider YC organization like planning social media campaigns and helping organize Startup School world tours. This role can have a huge impact across the Startup School program if you want it to.

We’re open to a wide variety of backgrounds for this role. That said, the ideal candidate is excited about supporting startups and has prior experience as a founder or with an early-stage company.

Outreach Manager (San Francisco, CA)

One of our goals at YC is to make startups more accessible to talented people, no matter where they are in the world. We fund founders who have no network; we fund unpopular ideas; we fund across industries and verticals; and we fund companies building for non-US markets. What we look for: smart, talented founders who are passionate about solving some of the world’s hardest problems.

One way we find those founders is through hosting in-person and online events, workshops, office hours and meetups for founders who are in the earliest stages of building their company. Your job would be to manage and execute outreach events and programs across all of YC. This includes helping establish and maintain relationships with universities, student groups and other organizations, and planning/executing events and programs that support the founders (or future founders) in those communities.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with universities, student groups, and other organizations that work with YC.
  • Plan, execute, and promote YC outreach events at universities and in cities across the U.S. and internationally.
  • Track the success of outreach programs and initiatives.
  • Work with the Outreach Team to identify programs that YC should spend the most time pursuing.
