Y Combinator has a lot planned for 2020, including reaching more people with our worldwide events, going bigger with Startup School and serving our ever-growing communities of founders and developers.
To make that all possible, we’re growing our YC team. Here’s a quick rundown of the roles we have open:
At YC, you’ll gain a unique perspective on what it takes to build a company from the ground up — from learning how to start a company, to finding customers, to raising funding and hiring early employees, to raising a Series A and scaling beyond.

Y Combinator started Startup School two years ago as a way to help as many startups and founders as possible. Over 30,000 companies and 40,000 founders participated in 2019 — our largest cohort ever. We are looking to scale Startup School’s impact even further by hiring a product engineer on our small YC software team.
In this role, you will:
We’re looking for a driven and enthusiastic community support manager who can help make Startup School an even better experience as it continues to grow in 2020 and beyond. Your core responsibility will be to provide a delightful founder experience by managing inbound support requests and moderating our community forum. As the voice for the founders in Startup School, you’ll help identify key needs and play a direct part in improving the program to better serve the community.
Additionally, the Startup School team is very small and we all wear a lot of hats. Beyond your core responsibilities, you can expect to be involved in other tasks within Startup School and the wider YC organization like planning social media campaigns and helping organize Startup School world tours. This role can have a huge impact across the Startup School program if you want it to.
We’re open to a wide variety of backgrounds for this role. That said, the ideal candidate is excited about supporting startups and has prior experience as a founder or with an early-stage company.
One of our goals at YC is to make startups more accessible to talented people, no matter where they are in the world. One way we do that is through making what we teach available, for free, to founders everywhere. We write essays, publish tactical guides, and produce videos and podcasts that share founder stories and capture guidance from YC partners. YC has an incredible community of founders and investors — and we’d like to work with someone who can help us continue to share the knowledge of our community in creative ways.

One of our goals at YC is to make startups more accessible to talented people, no matter where they are in the world. We fund founders who have no network; we fund unpopular ideas; we fund across industries and verticals; and we fund companies building for non-US markets. What we look for: smart, talented founders who are passionate about solving some of the world’s hardest problems.
One way we find those founders is through hosting in-person and online events, workshops, office hours and meetups for founders who are in the earliest stages of building their company. Your job would be to manage and execute outreach events and programs across all of YC. This includes helping establish and maintain relationships with universities, student groups and other organizations, and planning/executing events and programs that support the founders (or future founders) in those communities.
