Software for data sales
Companies that sell data need to do two things in addition to building their dataset: 1. Convey the meaning of their data 2. Convey its value Achieving these two things is surprisingly difficult. The way this is done today is usually by providing a data dictionary that explains the structure of the data (field names, types, maybe a business definition), a sample set that’s relevant to the customer, and a bunch of ad hoc back and forth over email and phone. Syndetic is a web app that sits on top of your datastore (or you can upload individual datasets as csvs). We scan the data to automatically generate profiling statistics like coverage rates, cardinality, min/max character ranges. We automatically generate sample sets. And we provide a management layer so teams can collaborate on field definitions, data lineage, and any other notes that may be useful to the buyer. The result is a nice looking webpage that we host with your domain (e.g. data.acmeco.com) that can be shared with potential customers, trade partners, or internally - anyone who needs to understand the meaning and value of a specific slice of data. You have full control over what gets published or not to your recipients. Because we’re connected to the raw data, we can catch things like schema changes and alert you, so your data dictionary never gets out of date. If you want, we can even deliver the data for you to your customers via hosted SFTP, API, or direct database connection.
