About the role

Software Algorithms Engineer (Houston, Texas)

Cells have to move and interact in order to fight disease. CellChorus applies AI to "watch" thousands of videos of how cells move, interact, and die. Our customers use our platform to advance the best therapies to clinical trials, to understand patient response, and to maintain consistent manufacturing.

This is an opportunity for a future team member who is seeking a cross-disciplinary role in an early stage company that works with some of the top immunotherapy companies in the world—and is eager to improve the lives of patients diagnosed with cancer, infectious diseases, auto-immune disorders and other conditions.

This is also the first full-time hire on the software team. So it is kind of an important role.

The ideal candidate:

  • has extensive programming experience with Python (experience integrating C++ libraries and wrapping functions in Python for faster processing is preferred);
  • holds an MS, PhD or multiple years of work experience in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a similar field;
  • has experience with visualization tools and GUI development, and is comfortable with libraries such as PyQT and VTK;
  • has some familiarity with multiprocessing libraries and techniques;
  • preferably has had educational or professional exposure to cell biology, cancer biology, immunology or a similar field, preferably with a familiarity of bio-image datasets; and
  • is motivated to help patients.

What you will do and/or be responsible for:

  • deploy, maintain and improve existing computational pipelines (transfer from the academic lab to compute resources in the lab);
  • conduct analyses of results generated in the CellChorus cell imaging lab and generate statistical summaries, graphs, plots and charts of results;
  • collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including from scientific, sales and marketing teams, as well as senior leadership and external partners; and
  • document results and support grant activities.

Other considerations:

  • Language: Professional communication skills (both written and verbal) in English are required.
  • Timing: Candidates should be able to start within 30 days.
  • Location: Houston, Texas.

About CellChorus

CellChorus is a life science company that applies AI/ML to “watch” and evaluate 1000s of videos of cell-cell interactions so scientists can develop and deliver better cell therapies, antibody therapeutics and vaccines.

Our platform allows us to evaluate thousands of mini-microscopy experiments in parallel and quantify movement, contact, killing, survival and other activities of single cells and cell-cell interactions. Our customers include top-25 biopharma companies developing cell therapies, antibody therapeutics and vaccines (including one of the few companies with an approved CAR T cell therapy) across oncology, infectious diseases and auto-immune disorders.
