Afternoon.co is an AI powered all-in-one back-office platform designed for founders, integrating compliance, bookkeeping, and taxes into a single solution. It addresses the fragmented and complex US business environment where founders traditionally rely on multiple separate providers for payroll, sales tax, bookkeeping, tax accounting, and state compliance.
We just raised a $2M pre-seed round to fuel our growth.
Role Overview: As a Founding Operations Associate, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Afternoon’s early operations, processes, and customer experience. You’ll collaborate directly with the founders and establishing the foundation upon which the company grows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and optimize internal operational processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Resolve customer issues (i.e. tax notices with government agencies)
- Assist in compliance management, bookkeeping, and tax preparation activities
- Identify and address operational bottlenecks proactively, enhancing internal workflows.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate operational insights into product improvements.
- Contribute to growth initiatives and assist with onboarding new customers
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, operations, or related field.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Hustle mindset; proactive, resourceful, and comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- Prior experience in operations, finance, accounting, or consulting is a plus, but not required.

About Afternoon.co
No-one starts a business to do admin work. Our mission is to make running a business free of admin chores for millions of small business owners, by automating bookkeeping, government compliance, and taxes.
Since we launched in October, we support dozens of companies who rely on us for their taxes and bookkeeping. We are growing quickly, and have an ambitious product roadmap for next two years that we need help with.
We previously worked at Gusto, Brex and Notion, and know what it takes to build a company servicing hundreds of thousands of small businesses. We are an in-person company, working out of the historic art deco Manhattan office.
