Before we showed up, they used spreadsheets and filing cabinets – wasting as much as 60% of revenue on administrative expenses. About the Role
In this early stage, your chief responsibility will be writing code, working at all levels of the stack to deliver new features in our fast growing product. That said, your technical decisions will be laying the groundwork for future growth, and you will need to solve problems with scalability in mind. You’ll build systems from the ground up with durability in mind, and with vision for how these systems will serve future use cases and product growth. You will be instrumental in laying out the patterns of engineering best practice, and finding the balance between short term growth and long term technical health.

About You
You’re wildly good at Javascript (we’re all React and Node.js) and you love to learn. You’re excited to build and grow a company as the second engineer, and you have experience developing reliable, complex software. You’re highly productive but take your craft seriously.

You’re confident you can help us cross this inflection point of explosive growth and improve the quality of our codebase simultaneously. You have the humility to know that for the team to scale, you’ll need to recruit engineers who are even better than you or have the potential to be. Finally, you’re excited about our mission to solve the entire insurance process.

• Our office is in San Francisco, and this role is for someone who can come into the office. At this early stage it's important that we spend time together!

The interview will be mostly conducted by the founder directly. In later rounds, we'll want you to get to meet the other folks on the team though to make sure you like the people you'll be working with.

For the first technical interview, using google is strongly encouraged! We want the experience to be authentic to real-world engineering.

1. Intro chat to make sure this role and company matches what you want to do
2. 1 hour technical interview, two questions. Simple programming question, then a system design question. Using google is strongly encouraged! This interview tests if you know how to write Javascript in a real software environment and how much experience you have doing that. The system design problem, helps us see how you think about larger software problems and systems.
3. Onsite interview (fine to do over zoom if not in the area). 2-3 hours of programming questions including some debugging, programming, and verbal questions.
