About the role
At Avenue, we’re on a mission to scale the next generation of ops-driven companies. Our customers trust Avenue as their control center to monitor and respond to real time events affecting their company, and we work tirelessly to build great products that do just that.
We're a small but nimble NYC-based team of builders with experience at Uber, Amazon, Google, Slack, and Bloomberg and are looking for new members who love building software, want to work hard, and will collaborate with us in shaping the culture of a growing team.
We’re well funded, having raised $6M from Accel, Y Combinator, Slack Fund, Flexport, Elad Gil, Lenny Rachitsky, and a handful of other angels.
As an early team member and our first full-time designer, you will get a chance to set the core foundations of the Design organization at Avenue.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the design of major features and drive the product design lifecycle

Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, customer success, and other partners

Run weekly design reviews with the team

Use and evolve our internal design system

Hold strong opinions on design decisions to ensure we are building a high-quality product for our customers
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

4+ years of full-time product design experience at a B2B SaaS startup

A sense of customer-obsession and excitement when spending time with them

Ability to use tools for design visualization and iteration (Figma)

Experience working with (and building on) a design system

Ability to reprioritize work on a whim and comfortable with a fast-paced working environment

A high-level understanding of basic technical concepts such as HTML, CSS, SQL and databases
About You

You're product-minded. You have a sense for great user experience and feel for when something is off. You love talking to customers and building for them.

Get a lot done. You enjoy all aspects of building a product and are comfortable moving across the stack when necessary. You problem solve independently and enjoy figuring stuff out.

We believe operators are the glue between the product that companies build and the actual service they deliver. Ops teams are thrown into messy, loosely-defined problems and act as front-line firefighters. The tools that exist to manage their work are either reactive, inflexible, or stale. They resolve to rotating schedules of dashboard-sweeps to catch important moments and reference poorly-maintained Google Docs for process management.
