Founding Perception Engineer

Responsibilities

As a Founding Perception Engineer at Azalea Robotics, you will play a crucial role in advancing our robotic perception capabilities. Based in our main office in Berkeley, CA, you will lead the development of state-of-the-art perception algorithms and systems for our robotic platforms. Candidates should have a strong background in computer vision, deep learning, and 3D perception. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Develop novel perception algorithms and techniques
• Design, implement, and optimize deep learning models for various perception tasks
• Lead the development of real-time perception pipelines for robotic systems
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate perception systems into robotic platforms
• Mentor and guide junior team members in perception-related projects
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in computer vision and machine learning

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field with relevant work experience OR significant relevant work experience in robotics
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative team setting
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
• Expertise in PyTorch or experience with other deep learning frameworks
• Experience with both deep learning pipelines and classical point cloud processing algorithms
• Solid understanding of 3D computer vision techniques (e.g., SLAM, 3D object detection, segmentation)
• Familiarity with sensor fusion techniques involving cameras, LiDAR, and IMUs
