About the role

Who are we?

bipi is a free, easy-to-use POS app for cornerstores in Indonesia. We help merchants track sales, and run in-store campaigns to promote FMCG products.

We are re-shaping the analytics landscape for general trade by providing actionable data (really!) - for example, we not only answer key business questions such as “where can FMCG focus their efforts to grow sales of a new product?”, but actually help FMCG push promotions to the “warungs” via our app to grow sales, increase product visibility and more!

As a data engineer at Axross, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Analyze and organize large and complex datasets
  • Build and manage data systems and pipelines that will help us provide business-critical insight to leading FMCG companies in Indonesia and drive actions at the “warung”
  • Collaborate closely with other team members to design and implement continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., scraping, database improvement algorithms, ML models)

What are we looking for?

  • Ideally based in Malaysia, Indonesia or Singapore. Regional candidates will be considered.
  • Fluent in English and communicates effectively
  • Outcome-driven and adaptable, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proven data engineering experience (i.e., >3 years working in data strategy, schema design, warehousing, data modelling, ETL design and execution, etc.)
  • Proficiency of core tools / packages / database clients (e.g., SQL, R, Python, DBeaver) and familiarity with related software (e.g., Tableau)

Example of valuable experiences for this role:

  • Experience in data analyst and / or data engineering roles
  • Worked in high-paced professional environment (e.g., start-up, leading tech companies)

Why you should join bipi

In Indonesia, ~US$100 billion worth of consumer products are channelled through cornerstores (warung) annually. Cornerstores today are primarily cash-based and do not have any systems to run promotions.

Bipi is a free, easy-to-use POS app for cornerstores in Indonesia. Cornerstores simply scan barcodes to instantly access products & prices, track sales and manage their stores. We facilitate promotions for FMCG brands in our stores, boosting sales by 10-60%.

Our founding team has worked with large brands like Coca-Cola, Mondelez and AB Inbev, where we learned that brands spend 20% of revenues on promotions, making it a $3B opportunity in Southeast Asia.
