About the role

Opportunity

Blissway is a transportation tech startup founded by Stanford grads that uses machine learning and IoT to simplify the collection of tolls and improve road safety. Backed by Y Combinator – the famed startup accelerator – and some of the best investors in Silicon Valley, we have been developing and testing our technology with the Colorado Department of Transportation and transportation agencies from five other states. Having recently finished a successful pilot in Denver, we are looking to expand our operations team as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help support the fabrication and installation of our IoT devices for upcoming projects.
  • Own the operations of our Denver IoT system, starting with supporting and maintaining our installed equipment on I-70 near Idaho Springs. Your primary goal for system would be to maximize uptime.
  • Develop a documentation system for managing support and maintenance issues.
  • Work with the COO on other operations projects critical to the success of the business.
  • Collaborate with our hardware engineering team to optimize the design of our IoT devices.
  • Coordinate operations of the Denver IoT system with CDOT and our contractors.

What We Offer

  • Compensation includes a salary between $80,000 and $120,000 depending on experience, significant package of stock options and top-tier health insurance.
  • Learn from people with more than 10 years of experience in engineering and operations. You would be working directly with our COO.
  • At our Denver office lunch is on us and there are unlimited snacks.
  • Four weeks of untracked vacation per year (we actually push you to take them, unlike a lot of companies with unlimited vacation).
  • Work with a diverse and small team (we are ten full-time employees at the moment) formed in Silicon Valley.

You are a good fit if you:

  • Have significant engineering and hardware support experience.
  • Have a diverse skill set that includes building equipment, maintaining equipment, crafting inspiring documentation and reports, and collaborating with clients.
  • Can come to work at our office in South Denver at least three days a week.
  • Have a founder’s mindset. It excites you to work in a startup environment where you are given a lot of autonomy to solve hard problems and take full ownership. We expect you to figure out whatever you need to get stuff done.
  • Have an incredible eye for detail.
  • Are interested in career growth opportunities, including managing a team.

Reasons we might NOT be a good fit:

  • We are an early-stage startup so priorities and projects change often.
  • Everyone on the team is extremely mission-driven, and works incredibly hard to push toward our goals. Most people won't be cut out for it.
  • You don't like working in chaotic environments. This is not the type of job where you show up and we tell you what to do every day.
