About the role

We’re building a diverse team to join us in our ambitious vision for the future. It takes a village to make an extraordinary product, and having a wide range of perspectives to challenge each other’s assumptions is crucial to our mission and to our success. We especially encourage women, people of color, and others from historically marginalized groups to apply.

As a Product Engineer and one of our first technical hires, you will:

  • Work closely with the founders to research, prototype, and test new ideas, from fully-interactive demos to experimental features built directly into the product
  • Ship delightful UIs and interactions to our end users
  • Write performant, high-quality, and maintainable code
  • Pair-program with other engineers to ship features, tests, and bug fixes across our codebase
  • Lead projects from conception to production launch
  • Measure and iterate based on analytics and user feedback
  • Develop empathy for the the people who use our products every day

Our tech

As a small team, we’re all generalists and constantly learning new technologies. We don’t expect you to have a background in everything we use, but we do expect strong JavaScript fundamentals and a background working with React, Node, and ideally TypeScript.

If you’re curious, this is the technology that currently powers our apps:

  • React frontend, CSS-in-JS, utilizing hooks for composable functionality
  • Replicache for realtime data synchronization and offline support
  • Proprietary state management solution similar to Redux
  • ProseMirror-based rich text editor
  • Capacitor for our hybrid iOS app, with custom extensions written in Swift
  • Electron for our desktop app
  • Node, Postgres for our backend
  • Hosted on AWS, Heroku, Vercel
  • GitHub, Slack, Notion

  • You have strong JavaScript fundamentals and a background working with React or Node
  • You get excited about delivering delightful experiences to end users
  • You love the idea of owning projects end-to-end
  • You have experience collaborating cross-functionally across product roles (designers, PMs)
  • You're pragmatic and can reason effectively about prioritization and scope
  • You have a bias for action and are quick to implement new features and systems
