About the role

Chums is seeking a strong product design leader who can drive the product, help us push the boundaries of what’s possible and move the needle forward. The product design lead should be able to define the user experience, working alongside product management and engineering. The person in this role should be flexible and eager to work collaboratively inspiring those around them and elevating the product. The lead should always have a user experience-first approach to solving all business problems and continually identify new opportunities where we can deliver value to our users.

What you'll do:

  • Own and lead the end-to-end design process of new features and iterations of the Chums mobile/web/extension products
  • Work collaboratively with the founding team to identify and develop thoughtful solutions for user, product, and business problems
  • Be actively involved in strategy discussions as you will be a key contributor to defining the company’s goals, success metrics, roadmap priorities
  • Work collaboratively with our UI/Visual Designer to deliver high-quality, polished, delightful, and easy-to-use designs
  • Design and prototype multiple ideas quickly, and connect regularly with users to validate product directions Articulate, negotiate and refine design requirements in collaboration with product and engineering
  • Push convention and drive change
  • Lead and see the projects through from research to production with emphasis on user-centric experiences that define the vision for our product and grow our business
  • Identify user-centric experiences and solve tension points in the funnel, problem-solve in a way that will delight the user and delivers business results

What you'll need:

  • 3+ years product design experience in a product or design-focused tech company
  • Early-stage start-up experience
  • Experience performing all functions of the product design lifecycle, including user research, product strategy, wireframes, prototypes, documentation, and user testing
  • Deep practical knowledge of design tools like Figma and the Adobe Suite of products, as well as prototyping in programs such as Principle/After Effects
  • Ability to maintain visual and brand identity consistency between all products
  • Experience building/maintaining a scalable design system in Figma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A compelling portfolio of work that demonstrates high-quality designs
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and leading teams a big plus
