About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to work with Convictional leadership to ensure Data strategy aligns with organizational strategy. Our Senior Data Engineer will:

  • Own development, ongoing maintenance and iteration of Convictional’s SQL compliant data warehouse/lake including schema and table modeling, source integrations or pipeline development

  • Work with Customer, Product and Engineering stakeholders to model raw Customer tool, MongoDB platform data and other applicable sources according to these Stakeholder analytics needs

  • Assist with development of new data pipelines including ML applications and real time or near real time techniques

  • Coach and enable internal analysts and other users of Data to adopt best practices and upskill techniques. Act as an evangelist for data and analytics within Convictional

About you:

  • Strong understanding of data architectures, particularly Kimball approach to relational data modeling

  • Experience with performant data architecture and methodologies including real time or near-real time data architectures

  • Has experience with real time or near real time data pipelines, with a focus on performance and scalability

  • Able to move at pace with an experimental mindset - understands that perfect is the enemy of good and willing to ship and iterate while planning for the long term.

  • Strong understanding of statistical and analytical concepts - but not necessarily directly responsible for deployment of predictive models

  • Strong opinions, loosely held

  • Understanding of the product development process - experienced with GitHub and able to interact with our Product and R&D teams


  • Experience with product management and SaaS R&D process

  • 5+ years experience in an Data Engineer or Data Scientist role

  • Mathematics or statistics background (University or in practice)

  • Digital commerce domain experience: Wholesale, B2B, OMS, PIM, Dropship, Supply Chain

  • Skills with Python, MongoDB, Go

About the interview

Our interview process involves a screen, followed by 3 longer team interviews, and finally a founder interview. We will update you as soon as we come to a decision after each round. Details on this process are as follows:

  • Screen: a 20 minute exploratory interview with the primary hiring manager for the role. This helps us to mutually assess fit and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you have about Convictional.

  • Work assignment: most processes will include a 60 minute assignment modeling something you’d be working on in the role. You’ll review this in your team interviews.

  • Gauntlet: a series of three 40-minute interviews with potential team members. This helps us to assess your strengths, how you work, and learn about your experiences. This will also serve as an introduction to some of your potential team members.

  • Founder Interview: a 20 minute interview with one of our founders. This will give you the opportunity to ask any lingering questions you have about Convictional.
