Every business in America needs insurance, and most of them get it through an independent agent. Those agents spend their days fighting through deals, quotes, and underwriting back-and-forth to make sure their clients are actually taken care of. A lot of that fight is retyping: a submission comes in as emails, PDFs, and spreadsheets, and someone has to enter it into their system, reformat it for each carrier, and compare the quotes that come back. Renewals, claims, and benefits proposals work the same way.
There are more than 40,000 independent agencies in the US. Their growth is limited by how many people they can hire, and experienced insurance staff are hard to find. Every hour spent on data entry is an hour not spent looking after clients.
We saw this firsthand while training brokerage teams to use AI. The people doing the work were skilled and cared a lot, and their software wasn't helping them. Agents take care of their customers. We want to take care of the agents.
Every business in America needs insurance, and the industry behind it is massive: US property and casualty premiums hit $1.1 trillion in 2025. Independent agents are the ones who actually take care of those customers, placing 62% of all P&C insurance and nearly 88% of commercial lines.
But the leverage sits with large entities. A quarter of every premium dollar goes to overhead, with an industry expense ratio of 25.2%, which is roughly $240 billion a year spent acquiring, processing, and servicing policies. The four biggest carriers alone spent over $7.5 billion on advertising in 2024. Scale wins, even when a local agent would serve the client better.
AI already let a single engineer build what used to take a whole team. We're doing the same for insurance agents. If we succeed, a two-person agency will run like a hundred-person shop, and the best agent will win regardless of size. Shifting that $240 billion in overhead back toward the agents who own the relationships could be one of the largest transfers of value to small businesses in a generation.
We're the ones to do it because we've lived inside this work. We trained brokerage teams on AI before we built anything, took the commercial insurance course & test to understand the job from the agent's side of the desk, and still personally call every agency that books a demo.
