At Guac, we’re solving grocery food waste with predictive ML. We predict exactly how much of each product will sell, helping grocery retailers order/produce the perfect amount of inventory.

The grocery industry is enormous (it accounts for 4% of GDP) — and grocery food waste is a huge cost to grocers’ bottom lines, but also to our planet.

Today, we’re working with major supermarket chains in the US (you’ve probably shopped at some of them before), and we’ve scaled to 7-figures in ARR. We’re also backed by leading investors such as Y Combinator, 1984 Ventures, Collaborative Fund, and angels from Instacart and Citadel Securities.

We’ve brought together an exceptional team from Palantir, BCG, Oxford, Cambridge, and MIT to solve intellectually challenging problems and tackle food insecurity & waste with technology.

About the Role

As a Frontend Engineer at Guac, you’ll have real impact and ownership over technical decisions, strategy, and product direction. Your responsibilities will include:

Web Development (Primary Focus)

• Build and enhance customer-facing features for our web application using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
• Develop complex, data-intensive interfaces that handle mission-critical business operations for grocery chains
• Implement robust state management and real-time synchronization patterns to ensure data consistency across multiple users and sessions
• Collaborate with backend engineers to design APIs that support seamless user experiences

Mobile Development (Highly Preferred)

• Develop and maintain our React Native mobile application, bringing key functionality to mobile users
• Tackle challenging technical problems around data syncing, concurrent user interactions

About You

• 3+ years of frontend engineering experience with React and TypeScript
• Strong proficiency in modern React patterns, state management, and performance optimization
• Experience building complex, data-heavy web applications
• Strong understanding of API integration and working with backend services
• (Highly preferred) React Native experience and familiarity with mobile development patterns
• (Open to) Exceptional web developers who are eager to learn mobile development
