AI Engineer Internship (4-6 months)
About the role
At Hey Telo, we’re building Voice AI for the Home Service industry.
We’re looking for a AI Engineer Intern to shape the future of how people interact with home service providers. In this position, as one of the first hires, you will play a key role in shaping Hey Telo’s product, technology, and culture from the ground up.
If you are a builder who thrives at the intersection of AI, ML, and full-stack development - this is an unique opportunity to set the technical direction from day one.
What you will be working on
- Collaborate closely with our customers and help them solve their problems to make their work more enjoyable
- Build scalable backend infrastructure to handle thousands of phone calls per day
- Build intuitive user experiences in an AI-first world
- Optimize our voice agents for reliability, accuracy, and indistinguishability from talking to a real human
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in voice AI, LLM agents, and distributed systems
What we're looking for
We are looking for students or recent graduates in the field of SWE, AI & ML.
Technical skills:
- Experience in full-stack software engineering (React, Typescript, Python) and cloud technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Projects with modern LLM techniques (transformers, agents, RAG, fine-tuning, context engineering)
- Big Plus - Experience with building voice agents (Vapi, Pipecat, LiveKit)
- Expertise in leveraging AI tools that make you more productive (Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.)
Commitment and Mindset:
- You love challenging work and solving hard problems where others give up.
- You have full ownership from day one and aren’t afraid to push hard.
- You are fluent in German and thrive in talking to customers, visiting them, and putting their needs first.
