Full stack software engineer

Infield helps software teams keep their open source dependencies up to date. We’re automating away the toilsome work of reading changelogs, assessing risk, and upgrading packages so that software teams can focus on shipping features. We’re a small team of repeat founders passionate about making open source easier to use.

You’ll be helping found our engineering team with the opportunity to take ownership of large slices of our technology stack. We have work in a wide range of areas - from generative AI to complex data pipelines to modern, interactive web frontends - and want people who are excited about learning new technologies and passionate about open source.

What we use

• Ruby on Rails the web application
• React & SCSS for the frontend
• PostgreSQL for data storage
• Hosting and deployment on Docker + AWS

What you’ll need

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
• Professional experience with Ruby on Rails and relational databases
• Experience with client-side technologies: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, a frontend view framework
• Comfort with basic computer science concepts: data structures, algorithms, etc.
• Comfort in Unix userland environment: grep, pipes, vim/emacs, etc.
• Comfort with package managers: bundler, npm, yarn, etc.
• Interest in entire product design and development process

What We’d Like

• Experience with React, Typescript, and SCSS
• Experience contributing to or maintaining an open source package
• Experience writing command line tools
