About the role

At Inspectify, we are a YCombinator (S20) backed start-up building the leading marketplace for home inspections. Our software streamlines the inspection experience and creates the single most comprehensive data set of every single home. We operate in both the United States and Canada and partner with some of the most prominent and fastest growing real estate brokerages in the world.

We are looking for our first Analytics Engineer to join the Data team.

Based in Seattle, Montreal or working remotely (in the US or Montreal, Quebec), you will be responsible for transforming our raw data into a shape that’s ready for analytics and machine learning, building reports, and training our operations staff on how to query our data and use data visualization tools.

You have interest in machine learning and want to help us make Inspectify into a data-centric, AI-enabled company.

Above all, you are entrepreneurial, eager to learn and ready to jump in and help!

You Will:

  • Ingest data from a multiplicity of SaaS tools and databases
  • Build a data warehouse
  • Write complex data transformations in SQL
  • Deliver well-defined, tested, documented datasets
  • Define and improve key metrics and executive reports
  • Investigate and troubleshoot data quality issues
  • Train business users
  • Work closely with Engineering and the rest of the Data team to prototype and build new data-driven features, using machine learning and computer vision technologies

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer, Analytics Engineer, Data Analyst with strong technical skills, or Data Engineer with an interest in providing insights
  • Excellent SQL skills
  • Working knowledge of Python
  • Experience with ETL / ELT tools like FiveTran, Stitch, Matillion, AWS Glue, or dbt, Postgres and RedShift (or SnowFlake or Databricks)
  • Data visualization (e.g., Metabase, or any of reDash, Qlik, Looker, Power BI, or Tableau)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bachelors’ degree in a quantitative field (e.g. science, engineering) or proven experience in the field

Nice to Have:

  • Software development experience in Ruby or Typescript
  • Experience with Cloud services, especially AWS EMR, Glue, Athena (alternatively Presto, Trino), LakeFormation, or SageMaker
  • Familiarity with Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
  • Experience building and using APIs
  • Interest in Real Estate or Proptech

Our Values:

We care about people

We work with different types of people everyday and we need to pay attention to them. Starting with the people, internally and externally, will help us gain and keep their trust as we build out our offerings.

Understand and connect the system

****We understand that we’re placing ourselves as a third-party in an already complicated dynamic in real estate. Our current work and future vision will continuously affect the different elements in the transaction space. From all areas, know how one action or change can affect the ecosystem.

Empower to Own

We strive to set an environment where people can be leaders which means being able to own. Opening up opportunities for trials, experiments, and thought-provoking conversations will bring a sense of impact and value to each and every one of us.

Be consistent with a purpose

We need to have established opinions on different matters. These perspectives that we carry on shows that we should be consistent in our messaging, interaction, and relationship. But, always remember to be intentional and know why we hold onto these thoughts.

Expand your potential

We want to be in a culture that cultivates growth in our employees. Leaders not only lead but also think bigger organizationally. By crafting this type of atmosphere, we want to make sure our customers and partners are getting the best experience.

Be conscious by giving back

We adopt a mentality of creating a cycle of giving back to the community and/or society.
