About the role

JITX is a way to design circuit boards that saves time, money, and environmental waste. Instead of manually drafting and reviewing one-off designs, our users write code to generate designs programmatically. Our AI-powered solvers handle the low-level details, and make engineering work massively reusable. Our vision at JITX is to automate hardware design for the benefit of science and the welfare of humanity. JITX is a team that is building next generation software to help companies design better electronics. Dedicated to solving difficult problems with huge impact, our first step is to automate circuit board design.

This role is responsible for making the user experience of JITX delightful by creating efficient and intuitive experiences. You should have a passion for design and for figuring out best in class solutions to UX, UI and interaction challenges. We are looking to work with an experienced designer who can pick problems and solve them. You will develop creative features and improvements that ship quickly, and work closely with great engineers to ensure high-quality implementations. You will create flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity wireframes for features that help our users solve complex electrical design problems using our tool. You will be the first design hire at an early-stage company and contribute to our overall product and design direction.

-Conduct interviews and studies, run tests, and collect user data from professional electrical engineers, to learn how JITX users build circuit boards and where the pain points are.

-Gain an understanding of common user challenges and execution of engineering ideas and quality standards. Apply a relentless eye for detail while building a robust UX with functionality that is clean, simple, intuitive, and engaging.Collaborate with our CEO to navigate the product roadmap, optimizing for impactful features that can be implemented quickly.

-Design the core workflow with a holistic approach that considers the entire user experience, gaining the users trust through their interactions with the JITX tool, our installation and update flows, documentation, and reference designs & guides.

-Design with a strong sense of visual style that meshes well with the principled approach of circuit board design, drawing professional electrical engineers into JITX as a way to conduct their best and most innovative design work.

-Collaborate with our Front end engineer to guide feature implementation. You will plan and design workflows, with wireframes, and storyboards, connecting features to functionality. You have enough JavaScript knowledge to understand the frameworks and how features are going to be implemented by Front end engineering.

-Relentless about optimization and improvement. Success is measured by how quickly users can self-serve through onboarding and intuitively gain value from JITX. You will advance the product to stand out from industry, embracing unique, novel interactive design systems.

In your resume and portfolio, please highlight: -Showcase a system of design; fundamentals are shown in your thought process, and exhibit high quality standards. -Experience in product design in SaaS applications or developer tools. -The ability to showcase building and optimizing a complex tool and making it beautiful. -Any experience building collaborative tools. -Collaboration with Engineers to identify impactful features but can be delivered in a nimble fashion. -Collaboration in a small startup environment, with ability to showcase design work on a V1 Product. -Bonus Points: Experience with Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) or hobbyist a plus! -Required: Attractively presented and detailed portfolio with clearly communicated projects outlined.

This role can be remote or local within the California Bay Area. JITX will continue to be flexible in the Post- Covid Work Plan. We have an option of a Berkeley or San Jose office for a full -time or hybrid schedule, if preferred.

In order to provide our employees with a safe working environment, our company is requiring that all employees be fully vaccinated and safely outside of the 2-week post vaccination window before working onsite, unless they have been approved medical or religious exemption. If hired, you will be required to self certify and likely show proof of vaccination (or exemption) upon the start of your employment with us.
