About Us

mello is a Y Combinator (S21) backed start-up that integrates wellbeing into every employees’ workflow. Our vision is to help every remote team on the planet to work healthier, more sustainably, and learn how to stay mello instead of burning out.

As second-time founders, we burnt out building our last company during the pandemic. We wanted a simple, easy-to-use solution that integrates right into our workflow to increase our wellbeing but couldn’t find anything on the market so we decided to build the solution we would’ve liked to use ourselves (aka, eating your own dog food).

At mello, we’re building the new standard that remote and hybrid companies use to track, measure, and act on burnouts to inspire happier, healthier, more motivated teams. mello suggests smart actions for both employees, managers as well as HR to take to increase wellbeing, productivity, and retention.

The next version of the app will incorporate gamification and rewards (think Starbucks rewards meets Duolingo) to foster team competition and accountability.

About this Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Lead (Remote) that will lead and help us build a navy-seal of an engineering team. You’ll be defining our engineering roadmap, tech stack, and setting the tone of how the engineering team will run, and working between product, business and sales to ensure the highest output and velocity for our product.

What your role will entail

Lead. Lead an engineering team of 2-5 engineers in developing a high-profile product using the latest technology. Manage. Oversee features and systems by implementing and facilitating agile, lean, and devops development practices. Cultivate. Ensure your engineers remain productive, effective, growing, and happy. Build. Pitch in by contributing to the codebase, ensuring the right foundational elements are being built in a maintainable, scalable manner and the system is evolving in an appropriate direction. You Have:

Familiarity with lean, DevOps, and agile principles, and know the importance of batch size reduction, limiting WIP, and incorporating feedback to create value iteratively and incrementally. Experience with frontend/backend frameworks, CI/CD pipeline, and Cloud compute primitives (e.g. lambda, message queue, storage, IAM) Experience with data modeling and design tradeoffs, principles, and practices to help guide the team's technical direction Experience with log aggregation, monitoring, and alerting for Cloud resources Experience and interest in leading, growing, and cultivating diverse teams Interest in managing organizational improvements in Deployment Frequency, Change Failure Rate, Mean Time to Restore, Lead Time, and Cycle Time Who you are
