About Us

ModernLoop helps every company automate and streamline recruiting operations to deliver the best candidate experience. Lydia and Chris are ex-Facebook, Slack, Brex, and Salesforce employees with 15 years of combined experience interviewing and partnering with recruiting teams at various company sizes to hire top talent. ModernLoop aims to be the recruiting infrastructure that powers recruiting operations at every company.

What you will be doing:

As an early team member, you'll collaborate with our co-founders and the ModernLoop team to ideate, develop features, and create whole product areas. As we continue to build and grow ModernLoop, you’ll be building out systems that can scale alongside our customers.

In this role, you will work closely with our executive and product teams to build new products and the backend services to scale them. You will work with a group of senior engineers to design, develop and ship the backend services for the core features of our application! As a senior engineer on this team, you could work on projects such as.

  • Optimize and continue building our complex scheduling algorithm that impacts thousands of people daily.

  • Mentor others, break down large projects/create deliverables and drive architectural conversations while collaborating with other engineers

  • Enhance existing features of our product and ensure our integrations are seamless for an excellent customer experience

  • Building scalable permission and privacy systems to help put our customer's security first

Our tech stack:

ModernLoop uses Java and Armeria microservice framework. Our infrastructure is built on AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.

What you bring:

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, specifically building backend systems for customer-facing applications

  • A passion for making architectural decisions and influencing design to enable a company to grow

  • A systems thinking mindset to build out REST APIs in production to scale alongside our customers.

  • Expertise with functional or imperative programming languages, e.g., Java, Go, Python.

  • An ownership mentality. You’ll own the development process from building new features, deploying them, and ensuring their success.

  • Experience establishing product performance metrics and implementing them in a way to consistently report the health of the product

  • Ability to help define engineering best practices for a growing engineering team

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a bias for action

  • Self-­awareness, a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and empathy

  • Strong knowledge of computer science and engineering fundamentals.

Bonus points:

  • Experience with Dev-ops, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, or PostgreSQL

  • Experience with any of our integration partners: Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Greenhouse, Lever

  • The Git workflow, including pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD systems
