Director of Infrastructure

About the Role  

The Director of Infrastructure plays a critical role in scaling Mux’s product, technical strategy, and the Engineering organization. In this role, you will lead and grow teams that build and manage critical services that serve our product teams. You will play a key role in scaling the technical platform necessary to operate a growing video infrastructure product that requires a highly reliable, operable, and cost-effective underlying platform. You will also play a key role in scaling our Engineering organization through advocacy of the infrastructure strategy and discipline growing our bench of technical leadership.

What You'll Do

• Drive the medium & long-term technical strategy as it pertains to our horizontal infrastructure that serves our product needs (cloud infrastructure, platform services, analytics pipelines), with a focus on
• Automation/minimizing toil
• Security
• Reliability & scalability
• Developer experience
• Co-develop roadmaps and execution plans with other Engineering leadership; be accountable for the outcomes of our plans and the health of our teams
• Lead and grow the Platform Engineering, Analytics Engineering, and Platform Experience teams with a strong emphasis on results, cohesion, and inclusion
• Coach and support engineering leaders to grow with deep empathy and excellent execution
• Deeply partner with other cross-functional leaders (Product, Engineering, and others) on the articulation of goals and completion of projects and roadmaps
• Externally represent Mux on issues within your domain and organization, especially as it relates to strategic partners or key vendors

Who You Are

• 8+ years experience in Engineering/Infrastructure with at least 3+ years leading and coaching managers and technical teams
• 3+ years in a strategic role scaling engineering teams and infrastructure
• Experience with cloud infrastructure at scale
• Experience with successful large-scale technical migrations
• Experience driving towards reliability goals with SLAs
• Effectively communicate, influence, and work with internal stakeholders
