Senior Software Engineer

ObieCRE (YC S19) is looking for passionate, talented engineers to build our product, our team, and our company. A small pivot has led to great product-market fit, and we now have acres of green field that need coding.

The ideal candidate will have a disposition to shipping features. This person should have best practices down pat, and should know what can (and what cannot) be compromised to delight a customer. We are working very closely with our customers (speaking with them on the phone daily, if not more often). The prospect of taking a customer call should delight you.

Our stack is React, Node.js, Typescript, and GraphQL. You should have ample experience in these technologies. Several years in overall coding experience is preferred, although the quality of this experience will be valued more highly than its duration. If you’ve ever considered founding your own company, our experienced leadership team will provide a front-row education.

About Obie: If you own a building that leases to office or commercial tenants, you need insurance. This is true if the economy is growing or crumbling. And as a result of this mandatory nature, it has not evolved to use modern technology. Workflows are manual. Communication is messy and time-consuming. People often don’t know what they’re buying or why. Obie believes that transparency and human-centric automation will transform how commercial real estate insurance is sold. In the process, we will build a category-creating set of tools that delight our customers.

We’re based in Chicago, but (like everyone) we’re remote at the moment. We welcome US-based remote applicants, but be warned: we’ll try to persuade you to move to the City by the Lake.
