About the role

Openmart is an SF-based, YC-backed startup building a modern database of local businesses and the tools around it. Our customers include DoorDash, Whatnot, and Alibaba.

We’re looking for a Full-Stack Engineer who wants to build fast, own product decisions, and work closely with users. This is a strong fit for someone who is technical, product-minded, and excited about using AI-native tools to move faster.

What you’ll do

  • Build and ship product across the stack
  • Work closely with the team on product direction, prioritization, and execution
  • Turn customer feedback into simple, high-leverage product improvements
  • Help us move quickly from idea to shipped feature

What we’re looking for

  • Strong product sense and judgment
  • AI-native and excited to use new tools to build faster
  • High ownership and willingness to move quickly
  • Ideally 1–2 years of experience, though we’re also open to exceptional new grads
  • Active on X/Twitter, or generally plugged into the startup and builder community online

About Openmart

We are Openmart and we are creating the world’s largest live directory of local businesses. We help sales professionals query millions of unstructured business data like websites, product catalogs, reviews and socials.

Both of our founders are located in Foster City and we work in a loft where Richard lives in. Both of us have dogs and have a very dog-friendly office!

Team

Richard

  • Richard was a senior software engineer at Cruise working on ML. Then joined as founding engineer at Graft, funded by NEA and GV where he trained and finetuned large-language models.
  • Built an AI agent as weekend project that got on to GitHub trending projects

Kathryn

  • First product manager at Databento, which was funded by Redpoint venture which sells market data API’s.
  • Previously was on various growth teams at Pinterest and ran hundreds of A/B testings.
  • She also runs a DTC tea brand where she experienced the problem that led to the idea of Openmart We’ve known each other at Pinterest back in 2019 and have been good friends ever since. Openmart’s idea stems from our founder’s own pain points. Kathryn faced GTM challenges while launching her beverage brand trying to find great local business leads.
