Founding Engineer

Overlap is revolutionizing the podcast listening experience with an AI-powered app that curates the best moments for listeners. As part of the Y Combinator S24 batch, we're on a mission to transform how people discover and enjoy podcast content. Our approach combines SOTA AI technology with a sleek, user-friendly interface to deliver personalized podcast highlights to a growing user base.

The Role: We're seeking a Founding Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of Overlap. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to work across our entire tech stack, from our Next.js video editor to our SwiftUI-based iOS app to our Python backend. This is a unique chance to make a significant impact on a product that's changing the podcast landscape.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the founding team to define and implement product features
• Develop and maintain our iOS/Web app using Next.js+SwiftUI
• Help optimize and maintain our Google Cloud infrastructure
• Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment
• Participate in architectural decisions and help shape our technical roadmap

Required Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment and wear multiple hats
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ready and willing to go above-and-beyond
• Ready to start before EOY

Preferred:

• Proficiency in Python for backend development
• Experience building 0→1
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform services, especially Firebase and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of AI and machine learning technologies
