About the role

The Role: Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) in carbon markets is the collection of processes and tools used for characterizing project performance in terms of societal and environment benefits, such as biodiversity or carbon storage. They form the foundation by which carbon markets operate. Our approach is to use the latest remote-sensing technology and machine learning techniques to provide critical forest measurements necessary for accurate and transparent validation.

Our MRV team is looking for an experienced Engineering Leader to guide the growth and development of our MRV products. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of setting and delivering on goals for cutting-edge machine learning and data products.

We’re looking for a someone that finds joy in getting great results from a strong, satisfied team. Managers who push forward initiatives by asking great questions, cultivating and developing a team, cutting through ambiguity, and organizing to win. We look for people who are relentlessly detail-oriented, methodical in their approach to understanding trade-offs, place the highest emphasis on building, and building quickly. We expect you to build healthy teams, train them, and deliver outstanding results.

Location: This role is remote.

Have experience managing and growing a technical research and development team of at least 15 people Have been a senior engineer on a high-performing team Be able to communicate effectively and give honest feedback with empathy Have worked in a cross-functional organization and able to effectively work with Product, Science, and other organizational leaders

Why you should join Pachama

Pachama's mission is to restore nature to solve climate change. We are using technologies such as machine learning applied to satellite data to measure and monitor carbon sequestration and deforestation risk on forests worldwide. We then use this data to help originate, certify and commercialize carbon credits to fund reforestation and conservation projects that sequester carbon, enhance biodiversity and support local communities.
