Pyka is looking for an experience Battery Pack Mechanical Engineer to join our enthusiastic team of engineers. In this role, you will take ownership over a variety of mechanical and electrical subsystems including several different battery pack designs and support them from conceptualization through production.

We design, develop and manufacture an ecosystem of technologies including proprietary flight control software, avionics, high power density motors, motor controllers, batteries, and custom carbon-fiber composite airframes.

Pack level battery interconnect and mechanical design
Cell and pack level battery testing
Mechanical design of harsh environment, swappable battery enclosures
Work closely with our Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering teams to design and source all components of the battery pack
Design and layout of high voltage wiring harnesses and bus bars
Selection, testing, and validation of critical electrical components including connectors, cables, housings, fuses, and coatings
Creation, revision control, and maintenance of detailed documentation sets
An inquisitive attitude with an ability to quickly and deftly research new topics, try new things and develop mastery of subjects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate is not afraid to ask for clarification or give feedback
Experience designing harsh environment electrical enclosures and connections
Experience designing and testing robust battery pack assemblies
Experience with any 3D CAD package (Solidworks, NX, Inventor, etc.)
Mechanical design and prototyping experience
Experience designing complex wiring harnesses for robotics, automotive or aviation
Familiarity with automotive or aviation wiring harness standards, components, and best practices
Working knowledge of harness schematic tools for layout, BOM and drawing creation
Ability and excitement to be in a prototyping shop building things with your hands
