About the role


Your mission with QOA will be to replace chocolate in mass-market confectionary by 2035. We are building a fermentation platform to produce cocoa-free chocolate that is 10x more sustainable than conventional chocolate.

We are looking for a Product Developer who will be responsible for product development projects from ideation to market launch, in close collaboration with the teams Brand & Marketing, Sales, R&D and Production. You work at the cross-section of interdisciplinary teams of food scientists, analytical chemists, fermentation specialists, biotechnologists and molecular biologists. You will be one of the early employees, having an outsized impact, shaping the company through your efforts, scientific experience, and industry expertise.


You design and prototype clean-label plant-based products in line with our brand & our culinary vision. You lead the way to iteratively improve our products in short cycles and ensure that our customers/consumers have an outstanding product experience. You connect different streams within the company and funnel them into new product applications, prototypes and improvements of existing products. You work with external partners to help bring QOA to the market. You enable the transfer of scientific results and innovations into products to stay ahead of the competition. You shape internal processes to fast-track and optimize product development.


What You Should Bring Along

University / Applied Science Degree in Food Science, Material Science, Product Design or related field; or a similar education and relevant working experience in product development / front end innovation in food or related industries. Work experience in the cocoa / chocolate-related food space and/or industry experience with a focus on outsourcing and co-manufacturing partnerships is a plus. Creative mindset and expertise in leading creative processes. Strong track record in project management and managing timelines Preference for good food Hands-on mentality Exceptional communication skills in English is a must, German is a plus. Permission to work in Germany

Yet, this comes at a price for the planet and population: millions of hectares of rainforest were cut down for cocoa plantations during the last decade.
