About the role

YOUR MISSION

Your mission with QOA will be to replace chocolate in mass-market confectionary by 2035. We are building a fermentation platform to produce cocoa-free chocolate that is 10x more sustainable than conventional chocolate.

We are looking for a Senior Food Scientist / Food Chemist who will be responsible for the flavor formation, instrumental analysis, human sensory studies, and improving product characteristics of our cocoa-free chocolate. You will work with a small interdisciplinary team to push the boundaries of food & analytical science. Expertise in flavor formation pathways, e.g. Maillard chemistry, as well as instrumental analysis is a must. You will work with food technologists, food chemists, biotechnologists, and microbiologists to improve the aroma and taste, as well as the functional properties of our chocolate. You will be one of the early employees, having an outsized impact, shaping the company through your efforts, scientific experience, and industry expertise.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and manage the product development of existing and new products and product applications in the field of chocolate, and confectionary Run and coordinate instrumental analysis, i.e. GC-MS, GC-O, LC-MS, both internal as well as with external partners Perform human sensory studies to improve the flavor of QOA Collaborate with the core team and external partners to push the improvement of the flavor and functional properties of our QOA Develop a scientific and technical vision of the venture together with a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and entrepreneurial team

YOUR PROFILE

What You Should Bring Along

MSc or PhD in Food Chemistry, Food Science or related field Experience in Flavor Formation, i.e. Maillard Reaction In-depth expertise in instrumental analysis, i.e. GC, LC, etc. Experience in Machine Learning methodologies Data Science expertise, ex. statistical evaluation of analytical data Hands-on mentality
