We’re on the hunt for our founding growth marketer to help drive revenue and spread the word about ReadMe. Beyond the typical lead targets or quarterly revenue goals, this role will be a combination of demand generation, content programs, and brand-building. Your mandate will be to find out where our target customers are, create compelling experiences to reach them, and help them realize value with our product. We’re calling it growth marketer because you’ll help us grow! But this role really sits at the intersection of growth, content, and brand — so generalists and “wearers of many hats,” this one’s for you.

We're a small team of humans (and one owl) working together to do big things, and we’re growing fast! That’s where you come in. Since we’re a startup, you’ll make a big impact on ReadMe both in the daily responsibilities of your role and beyond.

ReadMe helps more than 5,000 leading startups and tech companies build beautiful, personalized, and interactive developer hubs. If you’ve ever visited the developer docs for Intercom, Airbnb, or Notion, you’ve used ReadMe!

We love what we do because it’s so much more than just documentation. We’re providing tools for teams to build a better developer experience and make their products and APIs easier to use. ✅ What you’ll do here

  • Drive awareness and growth across our self-serve and Enterprise segments and scale our marketing operations with initiatives including:
  • Performance marketing — Setting up and testing ad campaign channels via search and social campaigns. You’ll be able to get creative here and try new channels to see what works!
  • Campaigns and events — Tell the story about how ReadMe helps companies deliver amazing developer experiences through virtual events (and in-person, when it’s possible!), thought leadership, and other channels.
  • Partnering with Sales — Work with our wonderful Enterprise sales team come up with creative ways to source and engage leads, both outbound and inbound.
  • Product growth — Work with the Product team to grow self-serve sign-ups and conversions.

  • Passionate about growth marketing and building out the function at a rapidly growing startup. 
  • You have experience working on demand gen, growth, or campaigns marketing for B2B SaaS products. Bonus points if you’re familiar with developer tools and APIs!
  • Expertise with Google Analytics, Salesforce, HubSpot, or other digital marketing tools you love.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, excellent at setting goals, managing projects, and critical thinking.
  • Excited to build on the foundation of a whimsical, creative brand! ✨

🌱 How you'll grow within one month

  • Get to know your key cross-functional partners in Sales, Customer Success, and Product and members of the broader Design, Engineering, and People teams.
  • Learn the ins-and-outs of the ReadMe product and our customer base to set a strong foundation for future initiatives.
  • Assess current marketing funnel, programs, and ops infrastructure help craft your 30-60-90 day plan.

3️⃣ Within three months, you'll...

  • Test and launch campaigns across new channels like LinkedIn ads or podcasts.
  • Collaborate on lead generation supporting a significant product launch for ReadMe in Q4 2021/Q1 2022.
  • Brainstorm and execute on Enterprise specific marketing opportunities to support our sales pipeline.

6️⃣ Within six months, you'll...

  • Develop and execute a virtual event or event series to strengthen our developer brand while driving pipeline.
  • Partner with Product on enhancements to our self-serve onboarding and in-product experience to improve conversion.
  • Ramp up outbound lead generation and account based marketing strategy in partnership with Sales.

  • If we think we might be a good fit for you, we’ll set up a 30 minute phone chat with Sarah, Head of Marketing! She’ll tell you more about the role, and get a chance to hear about your experiences.
  • Next will be a second 30 minute phone interview with our CEO/Founder Greg, where we’ll dive a bit more into your background.
  • Then we’ll invite you to an "onsite" interview conducted over Zoom! These usually take 3.5 to 5 hours including an hour break in between. We are able to be flexible with the schedule and split it up over two days if that works best for you! We start with a 15-minute get-to-know-you with folks from around the team so you can meet the people you’ll be working with, and then have you talk with people one-on-one later on.
  • We’ll let you know how things went within a week! If it still seems like a good fit all around, we’ll extend you an offer! If not, we will update you to let you know so you aren’t left hanging.
