Runway is building a first-of-its-kind tool for teams to track, automate, and collaborate on their mobile app releases.
Managing mobile app updates has typically been a frustrating and costly exercise of performing tasks across a range of tools (e.g., GitHub, Jira, your CI environment, the command line), herding cats on Slack to get everyone on the same page, and manually updating a 50-line release spreadsheet. And there’s often even more inefficiency than teams realize, from a steady drip of small tasks and context-switching.
The Runway team has firsthand experience with the problem. We’ve designed, developed, and released native mobile apps at companies like Rent the Runway, Kickstarter, and ClassPass, and we came to recognize that there was an opportunity to streamline and automate much of the process; to go far beyond traditional CI/CD workflows in fostering meaningful collaboration, de-risking development, and empowering teams to spend their time building great features instead of managing releases.
