Shelf Engine is looking for a talented Senior Decision Scientist to join our Analysis team. In this role, you will work with multiple teams across functions to lead complex analytics projects, develop insights, and drive business outcomes. You will become an expert in our customers’ businesses, automating our ability to analyze Shelf Engine’s impact to drive value in a way that enables our business to scale rapidly.

This position is based in Seattle, WA, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days/week in office

As a Senior Decision Scientist at Shelf Engine, you will:

Independently lead analytics projects end to end, with accountability for delivering project outcomes, driving projects to on-time completion, including managing both the technical aspects and the project management of the scope, schedule, and resources assigned to these projects Lead discussions representing analytical findings, alternatives, and recommendations to senior company leadership and internal and external customers Design and develop innovative analytical solutions for new capabilities that deliver value to customers Proactively anticipate questions, business needs, and customer needs, and propose solutions that address those needs Develop data-based results that go beyond mere numbers, providing insight into the question and results that are easy to understand, relevant to the business and enable decision making Coach less experienced team members on both technical and soft skills Coach business users to self-serve basic analytics, helping them understand both the tools and the intuition behind them Lead projects such as … Building tools to automate frequent requests or manual data processes, enabling end users to self-serve and obtain rich, insightful analyses, where the takeaways are clear and intuitive Developing robust pricing models that account for a multitude of factors, such as shelf life, consumer demand, theft, damage, shorts, credits, and data imperfections Designing and executing experiments, including developing causal inference models that prove our value or justify decisions to customers Designing and implementing back-end data transformations and aggregations that improve consistency, accuracy, performance of our tools Prescribing merchandising by building models that optimize product assortment What we are looking for in a candidate:

You embrace our company principles: make the first move, make better decisions, be furiously curious, commit and deliver, have empathy, invent solutions, be authentic Bachelor’s degree, preferably in data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, finance, or economics. A minimum of 7+ years of experience in analytics-related roles Project management experience, having independently led complex analytics projects involving stakeholders from multiple teams resulting in strong business outcomes Ability to influence leaders and other stakeholders across the organization Advanced proficiency with SQL and Python for analytics work required Advanced proficiency in at least some of the following technical skills: statistical inference (causal modeling), experimental design, pricing economics, financial modeling, automation tools (e.g., Airflow), analytics engineering, software engineering, back-end business intelligence performance tuning Demonstrated use of business intelligence software (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) as an end-user visualization tool to self-serve automated analytics solutions Demonstrated knowledge of methods that efficiently query and manipulate data from multiple sources, understanding and employing the underlying computational methods that create these efficiencies Passion for data and using it to tell compelling stories, identify opportunities and solve challenging business problems Independent problem-solving abilities and comfort with ambiguity; able to appropriately identify and scope unstructured issues and solve them without guidance Ability to take raw data from a variety of sources and transform it into actionable insights Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately to all types of business stakeholders, including senior management, presenting insights in a confident and polished manner Ability to collaborate with internal and external customers to build trusted partnerships Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer What Shelf Engine offers you:
