Senior Engineer, Full-stack

Shoobs is a Y Combinator backed startup developing disruptive technology for the events and content industry. Shoobs is the leading destination to discover and book great urban culture events in the UK, such as Hip Hop concerts and RnB club nights. We are at an exciting stage of development and looking for a talented and experienced senior engineer to join this forward thinking and vibrant start-up on a full time basis. You will have a good understanding of architecture design and be able to engage and influence front-end design. You will be building upon an existing strong foundation.

Job Description:

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

• Lead the design and development of our end-to-end product
• Lead the technical contribution on architecture and design of new features
• Inform architecture decisions based on scalability and user needs
• Collaborate with team members to build product roadmap
• Contribute to routine Ops and maintenance tasks on existing platform
• Help train and support new additions to the team (junior developers, QA)

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience working with Ruby On Rails in a fast growing environment.
• Experience with back-end and front-end development
• Experience with developing API to support mobile app functionality
• Experience designing and developing software using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, MySQL, Elasticsearch, indexing database, Postgres database and REST
• Experience as a lead developer or CTO on previous projects
• Experience working on backends that are scalable
• Familiarity with developing on AWS, Google Cloud, Foursquares and using their SDKs
• Experience with Github
• Experience with integrated payment solutions, ideally Stripe.
• Experience working with SQL DB and NoSQL DB
• Experience with Agile software processes
• A natural problem-solver and willing to take initiative
• Good communication and collaboration skills
• A desire to work in a fast-paced, startup environment
