About the role

SiPhox, a Khosla Ventures, and Y Combinator-backed startup, is commercializing a next-generation diagnostics and label-free proteomics platform based on Silicon Photonics, a platform technology for optics miniaturization that has revolutionized the data center industry over the last two decades. SiPhox's technology provides the power of large laboratory instruments in a handheld device that accepts disposable silicon photonic chip sensors. Each disposable chip delivers a highly multiplexed central-lab quality readout of immunoassays and molecular diagnostics. The sensor chips are produced in a standard silicon chip foundry and can be easily scaled to provide a billion tests per week.

SiPhox is searching for a VP of Business Development with a track record of leadership in commercializing highly successful B2B product lines. As Vice President of Business Development, you will be responsible for helping to successfully develop our Go-to-Market strategy and driving awareness and customer acquisition for the first generation of SiPhox's chip-based label-free sensing platform. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer and working closely with the CEO and engineering team, you will be focused on building partnerships and sales channels for B2B use cases. The ideal candidate has roots in the life sciences industry with the experience of commercializing products at scale. This is an opportunity to get in at the ground floor of a mature, de-risked technology that is going to change life sciences and diagnostics.


  • Establish a B2B partnership strategy (e.g., product strategy, marketing, sales, post-sales service, etc.) for the Point-of-Care and Life Sciences

  • Establish a B2B partnership strategy (e.g., product strategy, marketing, sales, post-sales service, etc.) for the Consumer Wellness space

  • Identify, prioritize, and oversee the development of solutions and services to be delivered as part of SiPhox's platform

  • Source, prioritize, develop, negotiate, and execute innovative business partnerships covering multiple products and services under the Siphox platform umbrella, including wellness, infectious disease, and chronic disease monitoring

  • Develop North American and global strategy, including working with partners who have a global presence and/or are looking to expand

  • Build, maintain, and expand long-term relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners


  • Must be a player/coach; able to roll-up sleeves and get the job done as well as defining strategy and leading a team

  • Bachelor's degree a science or engineering required; MBA preferred but not required

  • At least 4 years of Executive Leadership success

  • Proven track record of creating profitable, high growth business and effective strategic partnerships with an outbound and creative approach to deal-making

  • Deep relationships in the marketplace and strong knowledge of the landscape

  • Superb interpersonal skills -- must be able to build and maintain quality professional relationships at a senior, executive level

  • Comfortable in ambiguity and effectively operating in a high-growth, fast-paced organization

  • Experience driving product and marketing roadmap and prioritization processes

  • Highly collaborative with the ability to demonstrate diplomacy, tact, and integrity -- ability to inspire, motivate, and lead cross-functional teams to achieve goals

  • Relentless and trusted collaborator and team player, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels

  • Experience building and leading high-performance teams
