Founding Full Stack Engineer
About the role
Stairs is looking for a senior full stack engineer to join the founding team (first hire) and help us ship software to help first-time homebuyers. You have:
- Broad engineering skills with deep experience in frontend.
- Experience and willingness to work in all parts of the stack and pick up new skills quickly.
- An eye for design: comfortable starting from an idea, sketching wireframes, and shipping an MVP with a bit of sparkle.
- A mind for product: able to empathize with future homebuyers and think clearly about how to serve them.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
🤖 Tech Stack:
- Frontend: React, Typescript, Tailwind CSS, Netlify.
- Backend: Java (Dropwizard), Postgres, OpenAPI to generate client code.
- Infrastructure: AWS managed with Pulumi.

We're a remote-first team with a presence in Brooklyn, NY. If you're local, we'd love to work in person some of the time.
