As a Senior Product Designer at Vanta, you'll have the opportunity to impact our product and design strategy and spawn entirely new projects that are design-driven. We’re looking for a collaborative teammate capable of delivering and taking feedback. What you’ll do as a Senior Product Designer at Vanta:

  • Own your design process end to end
  • Contribute to the overall strategy and decision making for Vanta’s product direction and vision
  • Create, collaborate, and iterate on flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals
  • Use and evolve our internal design system
  • Work closely with engineers and other partners to ensure a high-quality implementation
  • Help with hiring and establishing a design culture within Vanta

How to be successful in this role:

  • Have several years of experience as a product designer shipping products and delivering customer value
  • Have a passion for tackling complex user problems and shaping them into powerful/simple outcomes
  • Have strong visual, UI and interaction skills
  • Enjoy spending time understanding users and their problems
  • Have effective written and verbal communication skills

About Vanta

We started Vanta in 2016 as Equifax had lost every American's social security number, Home Depot had leaked its customers' credit card numbers to hackers, and Facebook admitted that it irresponsibly sent user data to third parties who tried to influence the US election. It was clear that security and privacy had become mainstream issues, and that we all increasingly relied on cloud services to store everything from our personal photos to our communications at work.

Vanta's mission is to be the layer of trust on top of these services, and to secure the internet, increase trust in software companies, and keep consumer data safe.

We do this by building an automated head of security for technology companies, and we use that system to both help a company secure itself and to prove their security to others.

If we succeed in our mission, it should feel irresponsible for users to put data into a product that isn't certified by Vanta, and irresponsible for companies to collect data without using Vanta to secure and monitor themselves.

About the interview

Recruiter call (30 min)

You'll start off your interview process at Vanta with a chat with our EPD Recruiter. This will be a 30 minute call to get to know you better and introduce you to who we are and what we do at Vanta, as well as chat a bit more about the structure and work of our Design team.

Hiring manager phone Screen (60 min)

Next you'll have a chat with one of our Design leaders to dive deeper into your fit for the role. They'll ask about your design process and experience, project execution, delivering results, and working cross-functionally. They'll be looking for strong examples of weaving together insights, business objectives and best practices into an effective design process that drives product outcomes.

Portfolio review (60 min)

We'll ask you to prepare a presentation to demonstrate your work on a project you were the primary/lead designer for. We’d like to understand your process from the initial idea, all of the way through execution, launch and impact. Please choose a project that has been shipped.

Recommended presentation agenda:

  • Introduce yourself (5 minutes)
  • Project presentations, preferably 2 that show your range (45 minutes)
  • Q&A (10 minutes)

Virtual Onsite (3 interviews plus product demo and wrap-up, 3 hours total)

####* Problem-solving exercise (60 min) In this interview, you’ll work together with our designers a non-Vanta design problem. This will be an opportunity for us to collaborate and get to know you better. We’ll do some rapid brainstorming, so please prepare your favorite design medium that you can are fluid in - Figma, Sketch, etc

####* Working cross-functionally (30 min) In this interview we’ll discuss how you work with team members across engineering, product, design and stakeholders.
