About the role

Ever gotten bumped from a flight, missed your connection due to a delay or had your itinerary changed without your knowledge and had no ability to fix it? We fix that (and a lot more) for airlines all over the world.

We're a B2B2C platform deployed with airlines globally that handles everything from deep API integrations to messaging systems to machine learning optimizations and are looking for fullstack developers to join us in dragging the travel tech industry into the 21st century.

Your mission: Develop key features for Volantio's core technology platform in a fast-paced, agile development environment, with your work having the ability to impact millions of passengers all across the world. Also to have fun.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work on all elements of the stack from data modeling and backend API's to UI implementation.
  • Working with airlines on integrations deep within their systems (in person, if you like!).
  • Assisting with key architecture, platform and infrastructure design.
  • Ensuring the system runs and scales smoothly and reliably with high availability and resilience to failure.

What we're looking for in you:

  • Proactivity: Resourceful, has grit, and a positive “can do” attitude; acts without being told what to do.
  • Flexibility/adaptability: Is cool with rapidly changing priorities and projects.
  • Analytical skills: Likes data and isn't afraid to dig in.
  • Communication: You're in a team! We think it's important to talk/plan together so we're all on the same page.

What we use:

  • Python, Django, Celery
  • React, TypeScript
  • Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Tensorflow
  • Postgres, Redis
  • Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Terraform, CDK, Github Actions

We are a tech company first so engineering is our largest, most important department. We care about developer ergonomics and believe investing time and effort in getting software and platform right is not-negotiable. We have:

  • A comprehensive automated unit test suite (frontend + backend);
  • Fully automated CI/CD (git push is all you need);
  • Fully containerized/reproducable dev environment (single-command bootstrap);
  • Redundant, HA, auto-scaling infrastructure;

What you should have:

  • Full-stack engineering experience in at least one of the following languages/frameworks - Backend: Python/Django (preferred), Ruby/Rails, Node; Frontend: React (preferred), Angular, Vue.
  • Evidence of exposure to architectural patterns of a large, complex web applications (eg, well-designed APIs, asynchronous data pipelines/message queues, distributed systems).
  • Experience with software best practices for large, complex software projects, such as unit testing, reusable components, traceability.

While cool tech, perks and benefits are all well and good, the people are actually what make Volantio great. Our team is curious, creative, motivated and idealistic. We believe that enjoying working together is paramount to building great things and awesome people is the only way to get there.

About Volantio

Remember the news headlines about passengers being angrily removed from flights because the airline oversold them? We solve that problem (and more).

Here's some recent news coverage about us and some of the programs we power: http://volantio.com/press/
