Background

Workpay is helping organizations in Africa connect with their employees to ensure they are paid quickly and compliantly, every time. We do this through our Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that enables businesses to manage and process employees’ payroll, in addition to leave, benefits, documents, and either key data.

With hundreds of African organizations using Workpay, we have recently introduced new financial services and benefits products. Our platform provides payroll financing to cover tight cash months, ensuring their hard-working employees receive salaries on time. And when their employees need money they have earned before the end of the month, we enable Earned Wage Access (EWA). These are just a few of our new financial products, with more to come.

Role Overview

Now we must seamlessly deliver these financial services, payments, and benefits products through the Workpay platform. Workpay is seeking a creative technical Product Manager with experience in the fintech, HR, and/or financial services sector. You will report directly to our CEO, while working alongside fellow Product Managers to help the Customer and Business teams translate user requirements and market trends into designs and technical work streams. You will then collaborate with our CTO and Engineering team to set priorities and ensure successful delivery. You will manage Designers and Product Associates. If successful in driving product-led growth, new opportunities product leadership and executive opportunities may arise.

Responsibilities

• Manage roadmap for financial partner integrations, and execute on new integrations with technical teams
• Collaborate with engineering teams on integrating with global payment partners.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders across Payment Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Engineering on compliant payment flows
• Become subject-matter expert in global payment methods and act as an advisor to product development functions
• Support needs of internal accounting, reporting, and reconciliation teams by ensuring solutions provide observability.
• Manage the priority of work and the trade-offs between time to value for a customer and time to market
• Write product documents, requirements, user stories, or product specifications as needed, ensuring clear communication and coordination with the business, design, and engineering teams
• Analyze customers and business problems to identify the pain points

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 4+ years prior experience as product manager, ideally at a high-growth company and a B2B Saas environment
• A passion for products that just work, even if the problems they solve are boring and complicated
• Excellent strategic decision-making (what to prioritize) and tactical decision-making
• Demonstrable, self-driven results that have moved a product in the right direction
• A strong sense of design and UX
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, including across different departments to ensure that we’re satisfying critical business requirements
