Predictive battery management software for electrified fleets
In order to keep climate change to 1.5°C, we’ll need 30% of global GDP (all of energy generation and transportation) to run on batteries by 2035.
Zitara Technologies (YCombinator S20) builds predictive battery management software for transportation and energy customers with large deployments. Our customers operate >$100M deployments of batteries in satellites, EVs, and renewable energy storage installations.
Our team brings top researchers in physics-based battery algorithms together with seasoned software engineers to build safety-critical firmware and large scale machine learning systems. We bring with us decades of experience from companies like Tesla, Rivian, and Gogoro.
Zitara Live Embedded, is a platform-agnostic software package developed to deliver adaptive controls software onboard batteries across EV, aerospace, and utility-scale storage applications. Zitara Live Embedded algorithms are powered by battery models, which utilize advanced numerical methods to maintain precision while meeting high-assurance and real time computation requirements that can operate across diverse platforms, from small microcontrollers to full POSIX server systems.
We're seeking a "player-coach" technical lead who can architect and implement complex algorithmic firmware and systems-level software both directly and by leading an engineering team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with the practical realities of delivering real-time software on multiple platforms, low-level software architecture techniques, and be prepared to participate in software lifecycle and program management.
The role will work closely with product and program management, application engineering, numerical modeling teams, and executive leadership to synthesize and implement current and next generation product plans, help manage software delivery and operations, design QA processes, and triage and resolve field issues.
Experience in high assurance systems development (eg, ISO26262 or DO178)
Experience with Rust
Experience with Bazel
Knowledge of numerical methods and pitfalls with floating point math
Familiarity with analog sensing and signals
Familiarity with battery or energy systems applications
Note: this position may be filled by a candidate either remote or hybrid in-person in our SF office. In-person candidates will be preferred, and remote candidates will need to demonstrate superlative organizational and communication skills.
