Why we built this

AI video right now is built to look like a movie, not to explain something.

But most of the video people actually need at work is the boring kind. A training module. An onboarding flow. A walkthrough of the feature you shipped last week. And making one of those is absurdly slow. You either pay an agency thousands of dollars and wait weeks, or you sit in a template editor dragging boxes around for an afternoon and it still looks like you dragged boxes around.

Who we are

We are Sudip and Kartikesh, the founders of Lamina Labs, and Simi is the first thing we have built. We are both from Nepal. We met at MIT and started building together there. We are the first Nepalese founding team to go through YC.

Simi is named after Simikot, the Himalayan village where Sudip grew up. We started with education because that is where this problem hurt us personally. But it is everywhere. Any time someone needs to turn an idea into a clear picture, that is us.
