Hey everyone, Ehud here, CEO of Chordio, the company behind Design Rails.
Over the last year, like everyone else, we've been building products with Claude, Cursor, and other coding agents. We wanted to ship a number of products rapidly to see what resonates most with customers.
We hit two separate problems:
Problem 1: The UI looked polished at first glance, but "wrong" in ways we couldn't unsee
This went beyond the “purple gradient syndrome”. The agent would invent new components with inconsistent styles. It added static labels that looked like buttons. It embellished non-interactive cards with confusing hover states. It used emojis instead of elegant icons. Random choices everywhere.
Problem 2: We lacked a cohesive brand
We were ready to launch a new product experiment within a week. The product worked, but it still felt like a prototype. We worried a “weekend project” look would distort our launch metrics and push us to the wrong conclusions. But we also were not willing to sink thousands of $ into branding before knowing anyone cared.
As ex-founders of Brand.ai (acquired by InVision), we believed there was a better way. Here’s what we built.
The solution
Design Rails helps you craft your brand through chat, then export structured files your AI agent would use to stay on brand and generate polished UI.
In under 20 minutes, you get a design-context.zip package that includes a markdown spec, and design-tokens.json that specify:
Plus
It works for new or existing products:
You drop the files into /design-context in your codebase, and tell your agent to
Read design-context/agent-instructions.md and create an integration plan for implementing this design system in our codebase.
The agent will update your styles, move logos, configure components, and update your LLM instructions (CLAUDE.md, .cursorrules, etc.) to reference the new design system.
We built this for AI builders who want to ship fast, iterate fast, and have their design look cohesive from day one.
Also, we’re trying something new (we’ll see how it goes!) - Outcome-based pricing. No token credits. No vendor lock-in. Use Design Rails for free, and only pay to download if you’re happy with the result.
Would love your feedback, questions, and use cases you want us to support next.
Thanks for checking out Design Rails!
