Button is the wearable AI that can talk.

We’re launching a small hardware device: a button that you clip to your shirt. You press it to talk to AI, and it responds instantly.

I was previously a Staff SWE at Apple, where I worked on the Vision Pro. Although I've spent much of my career on software, I have a background in mechanical engineering, and a deep passion for product design. I'm a second-time founder and former venture partner. Now I'm working on conversational computing, and I'm excited to bring voice AI to the masses.

Hey YC!

We’re Chris and Ryan from Button Computer. We’re dropping some new hardware!

https://youtu.be/BA37YK305y4

TL;DR

Today we’re launching a small hardware device: a button that you clip to your shirt. You press it to talk to AI, and it responds instantly.

It’s a computer. You wear it. You talk to it. It’s a companion device for your phone and laptop.

But it also runs ‘voice apps’ with an architecture that’s specifically designed for speed – because when you’re talking to your computer, everything needs to be instantaneous.

What makes Button unique

Button really is the first piece of hardware designed exclusively to give you instant access to voice AI. It has dual microphones and a built-in speaker.

Unlike other AI pins and pendants, Button doesn't listen to your private conversations. It can only hear you when you press the button.

And it’s fast. Really fast!

Our friendship

We worked together on Vision Pro at Apple. After Ryan moved to Colorado, we stayed close, catching up every couple of weeks for long phone calls. Chris visited Ryan and his family for Christmas, and Ryan was the best man at Chris’ wedding.

We’ve both had previous startups and we’re excited to do this one together!
