AI Software Engineer

About the Role Cambio is looking for a Software Engineer (90-day contract-to-hire) who is excited about AI and fintech innovations to be part of our energetic team. This role involves leading the creation and improvement of Aviary and our other AI-powered products, from scratch. As part of our team, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, develop, and launch features that enhance our AI skills and increase our market presence.

This will be hybrid role, based in the New York area. Expectation is 1-2 days in the office and 3-4 days remote.

Responsibilities • Design user-friendly interfaces that enable non-technical users to use AI in their work

• Improve and expand Aviary's AI capabilities, focusing on creating smooth, natural interactions for credit union members.

• Work on the full stack of technologies, including our private large language models, to provide scalable and secure AI solutions.

• Investigate the latest capabilities of LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation, and AI agents. Lead development projects from research and prototyping to production.

• Adapt the tech stack and architecture to scale to the growing needs of our customers.

• Help shape the team culture, as well as internal tools and processes.

• Take part in the design and architecture of new features, focusing on automation, scalability, and user experience.

• Be involved in all stages of product development, from idea to deployment and support, ensuring high quality and innovative solutions.

Qualifications • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. • 1-2 years of experience in software development (including internships), with a demonstrated history of building and deploying AI or fintech solutions. • Experience with AI technologies, especially in natural language processing, machine learning, or related fields, is very desirable. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment, with a high level of independence and responsibility. • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an inventive and analytical way of overcoming challenges.

About Cambio Cambio, with its main product Aviary AI, transforms the way credit unions communicate with their members by using AI technologies. Aviary, an outbound AI sales team for credit unions, banks and insurance companies, provides interactions that are human-like and customized to fit the operational and regulatory requirements of credit unions, banks and insurance providers. Aviary uses Cambio's private large language models and industry data to ensure TCPA compliance and high-quality interactions.

Initial Call: 15-30 minute intro call with our co-founder/CEO to get to know each other.

Technical call and coding challenge: During this call you will meet with our dev team. You will submit a project link to for a project you worked on recently, and review the code and walk us through your logic. We'll schedule a 1h meeting with our engineering team to go through your approach (including time with our co-founder/CTO, who is the hiring manager).

Final Interview: 15-30 minute call or in-person meeting with our founders (CEO, CTO, COO and Head of Data).
