About the role

Introduction

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join HeyCharge as Head of Growth for the DACH region. In this role, you will partner with the founders to build a critical mass of users, while testing and building the roadmap for our go to market strategy. Your work will drive the playbook by which HeyCharge expands within and beyond DACH.

Background

HeyCharge, based in Munich, Germany, is an EV charging technology company that has a proprietary technology that delivers affordable, scalable, and easy to install EV charging and connectivity solutions to multi-family building owners and operators, OEMs, and EV fleet operators. By 2040, there will be over 309 million chargers globally, with over $589 billion will be invested; HeyCharge’s technology is foundational to every product sold in this market. We raised a seed round led by BMW i Ventures in late 2021 and are well on our way to achieving market traction. We're hugely international, with an American-Dutch founder, employees located in 4 countries across 2 continents, and our team of 17 employees represents 6 countries.

The key benefits of HeyCharge’s technology are:

  • Lower Cost of Ownership. HeyCharge chargers have a patent-pending communications architecture that lowers the cost of hardware, installation, and communication costs.
  • Consumption Metering & Invoicing. Our solution covers the measurement of energy consumption for invoicing.
  • Manage Multi-User EV Charging Operations. HeyCharge Management Platform offers everything that is needed for the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of your charging network.
  • End-to-End Solution. HeyCharge delivers customers a simplified and complete EV charging solution that includes hardware, a B2B and B2C software platform and also allows for the monitoring and sale of power to EV owners.
  • Easy to Install. Any electrician can install and activate your HeyCharge chargers without any additional training

Your Priorities

The Company’s charging products are in the latter stages of certification within Europe and the US; commercialization of products has begun with a targeted group of multi-family buildings and EV fleet operators. These customers are purchasing hardware, a SaaS platform solution and direct power from HeyCharge.

The Head of Growth will pick up on the existing pipeline, continue to test go-to-market hypotheses (0-1) and then scale the teams while partnering with operations and engineering teams.

The GM will report to the CEO and will partner with the US Growth team and HeyCharge Operations teams to drive the strategic direction of the business.

Responsibilities

  1. Partner with BD, product and operations teams to understand existing customer wins and how these may be leveraged for growth.
  2. Identify areas of greatest opportunity and focus resources on maximizing these channels.
  3. Develop and test go to market hypothesis across customer types; while partnering with operations and engineering teams to document onboarding and customer successes.
  4. Rapidly scale sales functions (internal and / or reseller) as sales experiments produce actionable insights.
  5. Leverage growth, operations and engineering insights to partner with the executive team on go to market customer growth strategy that includes resellers, OEMs, direct to utility partnerships and direct B2B SaaS deals.
  6. Represent the business at industry events, conferences and events targeted at the real estate or client focussed sectors.
  7. Develop playbooks, in conjunction with engineering, operations and finance, to scale business out of DACH.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • A start-up mindset and a true entrepreneurial spirit having previously scaled and developed technology led growth organisations.
  • Time spent In an incubator environment or In top-tier consulting (McKinsey, Bain, or BCG) is highly beneficial.
  • A no-ego servant leader that leads from the front and is as comfortable at grass-roots sales efforts and building sales teams from 0-1 as they are working with executives and board members to set operational strategy.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and a nothing-is-impossible attitude.
  • Domain experience in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure proptech, utility, or real estate spaces are a plus, but not required.
  • A collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Analytical, data-driven mindset.
  • A fluent German speaker.

About the interview

We'll keep the description light, but what you can expect is:

  • Email Sanity-check. We just want to make sure there is basic alignment on the job profile, your expectations, certain non-negotiables before we take any more of your or our time on an interview.
  • Screening Call. This is a quick getting-to-know-you with one of our senior leaders where we'll probably spend as much time introducing the company and our strategy as we do talking about you. Like many early-stage companies, there's a lot more to know about us than you can find on the web site, and we find that it's helpful to frontload a bit of an introduction as it gives us so much more to talk about in terms of how you, the candidate, can have an impact at our company.
  • Full Interview Slate. This will be a series of 1:1 and small group (depending on the vagaries of scheduling) meetings, probably 3-4 in total. Each interviewer is focused on a certain aspect of the job fit evaluation, from overall fit to role-specific knowledge to values fit.
  • Follow-ups. We typically have follow-up questions, sometimes simple one-liners and sometimes as complex as a case study.

As an aside, we'd love it if you could review the HeyCharge values on our web site so you know what we look for in a team member!
