Silent data bugs can disrupt ETL systems, warehouses, and downstream BI tools, causing incorrect decisions to be made and a loss of trust in the data that is hard to gain back. Imagine software engineering teams lacking a tool like Datadog and only finding out about issues when users complain or simply stop using your application — that is the state of data teams today.

We’re building a platform for high performing data teams (like Bose, Sotheby’s, Ramp, Klaviyo, Sigma, and many more) so they can continuously monitor their data pipelines and know when things break, what went wrong, and how to fix it — all before downstream consumers message them asking “is this dashboard broken?”

The role

We're looking for a senior machine learning engineer to join our growing world-class engineering team. The role will be responsible for all aspects of our machine learning, including data processing, model development and implementation. If you love working cross-functionally, owning and shipping features to customers, building scalable and resilient systems our customers rely on every second of the day, and always learning and sharing best practices with the team, then this role is for you.

Your day-to-day at Metaplane:

• Improve the accuracy and scalability of our custom time series anomaly detection models
• Design and build robust validation processes
• Debug and fix modeling issues that are affecting our customers
• Review code changes and design specs from teammates

What we’re looking for someone who

• Has 4+ years building machine learning pipelines with Python
• Has experience working with cloud data infrastructure, such as AWS
• Has an extremely high bar for quality software - you can move fast and ship scalable code with the help of your team
• Enjoys being close to the customer and owning projects to completion

You’ll stand out if you have

• Desire to own engineering end-to-end. We make significant model changes or re-design models from scratch, deploy into production environments, and make sure the code is maintained
• Love for talking to users, understanding their needs, and making sure your product meets their requirements
• Appetite for working in fast-paced environments where you get to work directly with customers and make decisions that have a huge impact on the business
• Desire to create and maintain an engineering culture of craftsmanship
• Experience with Java, time series modeling, anomaly detection, or the modern data stack (e.g. Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker)
