Sr. Mech Design Engineer

The role begins with imagining the future. At Morphle, we’re a tight knit team of highly adept Mechanical Designers that bring to life; sophisticated mechanisms that enable unconventional solutions. It is imperative to exercise deep levels of user empathy in order to un-solve the obvious. A little explainer on that - It is only by understanding the core needs of the user, can designers propose solutions that are based on first principle physics, rather than complex engineered designs that jump through a lot of hoops to achieve the same goal. Designers should start with a blank slate where the entire team goes through cycles of divergent and convergent thinking during brainstorming, in order to narrow down the novel solutions that are fundamentally better in terms of reliability, performance and cost and ultimately achieve the goal.

Machine design should not be treated as a trivial CAD process. It involves laying down solid physics based foundations for the mechanisms and the Architecture that allows it to work. An understanding of how hardware interacts with software is built and the merits of interdisciplinary solutions are debated. This allows for solutions where hardware and software development go-in sync. An agile cycle of Risk Analysis and Mitigation, Prototyping and Validation, Manufacturability and Quality Control are key to prosper in the medical device industry.

Additionally, we like our designers to go the extra mile and design mechanisms such that each machine we ship has auto-calibration or remote debugging at least, fully baked in. Yes you read that right, “Remote Hardware Debugging in Medical Devices”, welcome to the future.
