About the role

Nearly every company in the world runs on custom business software: Gartner estimates that up to 50% of all code is written for internal usage. This is the operational software for refunding orders, underwriting loans, moderating content, managing marketplaces, rolling out new features, onboarding employees, analyzing transactions, providing customer support…the list is nearly endless. For most companies, building and maintaining all of these tools demands a lot of engineering time—scarce, expensive resources better put to use on customer-facing products.

At Retool, we’re designing a new type of development environment that makes it dramatically faster and easier to build all of this software. Retool unifies the ease of visual programming with the power of code, while abstracting away the tedious and repetitive tasks of development. We believe that the future of software development lies in being a force multiplier for developers and technical builders, helping them move considerably faster and build a lot more software. It’s akin to a new version of Visual Basic, HyperCard, or Flash—with a bit of Figma and some future-of-programming vibes thrown on top. Today, our customers span from small startups building their first operational tools, to Fortune 500 companies building mission-critical apps for thousands of users across their business.

Retool’s GTM teams are growing in size and complexity in order to support extremely ambitious growth in the coming years. We’re looking for a Marketing Strategy & Operations Manager to join the Revenue Operations team. Our team is responsible for accelerating Retool’s revenue growth by building the ultimate GTM machine. We help the sales, marketing, success, and support teams track and deliver against operating goals, design and implement key cross-functional initiatives, perform root cause analysis to diagnose challenges, and build / maintain the core GTM systems these teams use to collaborate and succeed every day.

You’ll support strategies from PLG to paid media to ABM. You will be responsible for improving our visibility into the performance of our marketing funnel(s) and ensuring the health and integrity of marketing metrics on an ongoing basis. You’ll be a key contributor to our planning process, providing analysis and reporting to our marketing, finance, and exec team to help us understand the ROI of our marketing spend and opportunities for growth.

About Retool

Retool's a fast way of building internal tools (to manage deliveries, for customer support, etc.). We just hit profitability, have raised money from some great investors, including John + Patrick Collison (Stripe), Elad Gil (Color), Nat Friedman (Github), Greg Brockman (OpenAI), etc. We're looking to scale our engineering team from 15 people to around 25 this year.

Our thesis is that all internal tools have the same building blocks (tables, textinputs, dropdowns, etc.). So Retool gives you those building blocks, which you can combine and compose to make any sort of internal tool you might want. That's a lot faster than writing the same custom code, over and over again. Here's a 3 minute demo.

Our actual goal - though - is to build the future of programming. We think building boring, internal enterprise apps represents most of programming. And if you can make building these boring things a lot faster, you have a good shot at becoming what "comes after programming languages".
