About the role

💡About Solve Intelligence

We’re building an AI-powered platform for generating and managing patents (see TechCrunch and World IP Review).

Backed by Y Combinator, our goal is to help outside counsel, in-house IP teams, and inventors use AI to elevate the efficiency and quality with which they generate and manage patents.

Our product is an in-browser document editor. It works just like Google Docs but, under the hood, is powered by an AI copilot to help with every aspect of the patent application and management lifecycle.

We’ve had significant traction since our launch, and we’re growing fast. Our revenue is increasing 20-30%+ month-on-month, and we’re now selling to 60+ IP teams across the US, Europe, Asia, and South America. These include some of the largest law firms in the world such as DLA Piper, smaller boutiques such as American Patent Agency, solo practitioners, startups, and large tech enterprises.

Our users love our product, reporting 50-90% efficiency improvements. WIPR recently published a case study about a Solve Intelligence customer, Volkan Hamamcıoğlu from InPera IP, who ‘has reduced patent application drafting time from 20 to 10 hours’ for his Firm by using Solve’s AI product.

We’re on a high-growth trajectory, and we’re looking for people who want to join us on the journey to building a billion-dollar company.

Come join the rocket ship 🚀

🏗️ About the role

We are looking for super-talented founding full-stack engineers to work on developing and maintaining both the front- and back-end components of our product.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Building the foundations of Solve Intelligence. You’ll be building the core, scalable foundations of our backend for a huge market - from the ground up. This isn’t a task to be taken lightly, and we’re excited to partner with people who are eager to dive headfirst into this opportunity.
  • Developing our user interface. Building state-of-the-art AI systems is one thing. But without a clean, intuitive, human-centric user interface, it won’t be adopted. You’ll be helping us plan, build, and iterate on our front-end UI.
  • Planning the product roadmap based on customer feedback. Everything we do at Solve Intelligence is based on customer feedback. You’ll need to help us extract insights from customer meetings to determine what we need to build to find product-market fit as quickly as possible.
  • Assembling a world-class engineering team. You’ll partner with our founding team to build, scale, and set the culture of our engineering team.

👋 Who you’ll work with

Sanj (Chief Research Officer and co-founder): Sanj did his MSci in Physics at the University of Cambridge and his PhD in AI at the Gatsby Unit, UCL. He won awards at top AI conferences, worked on the R&D team at Huawei, and received widespread attention for his contributions to open-source LLM GitHub projects. He joined Magic Carpet AI as employee #4, where he developed AI strategies for trading which deployed millions of capital before being acquired by Blockchain.com.

Chris (Chief Executive Officer and co-founder): Chris did his undergrad at Imperial College, masters at the University of Cambridge, and PhD at UCL, during which he published 10+ publications and won awards in top AI conferences and journals. He has worked in leading tech organisations, including Dyson, The Alan Turing Institute, and InstaDeep before its acquisition by BioNTech.

Angus (Chief Technology Officer and co-founder): Angus did an MEng in Computer Science at the University of Bristol where he won a cyber security scholarship at GCHQ before working at Qualcomm. He then joined a London-based hedge fund, Coremont (Brevan Howard). There, he led a small team to build a greenfield trade processing platform which scaled to millions of trades per day.

Justin (Founding Member of Technical Staff): Justin studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and law at Georgetown University Law Center. Before joining Solve, he practiced law at Quarles & Brady, a top U.S. law firm, where he managed, supervised, and prosecuted global patent portfolios and counseled companies on multi-million-dollar global product and technology launches.

Melih* (Founding Full-Stack Engineer): Melih studied Computer Engineering at Istanbul University before joining a seed-stage startup where he built Dolmus Driver; a game that went on to have 1M+ downloads. He then worked at leading tech companies including Prezi, Tobii, and Tink before joining Google. At Google, Melih built the GPU systems used by the most graphic-intense games on the Play Store.

*Joining Solve on May 20th.

🚀 Who you are

We are a young company of highly motivated, ambitious, and hard-working individuals building a billion-dollar business. Our fundamental motivation is to build a state-of-the-art AI product to assist humans in generating intellectual property and to have mass market adoption of our software.

You’re a driven individual with a strong work ethic - our team is committed to going the extra mile, even if it means working long nights and weekends to achieve our goals. You strive for excellence in every aspect of your work - you take ownership of your outcomes and overdeliver on your goals. You’re humble, eager to learn whatever it takes to help your team and customers succeed, and an optimist who thrives in a positive environment.

  • Opportunity to work with a super smart and ambitious group of people.
