Alga Biosciences is a fast-moving startup on a mission to transform the agricultural industry. Our goal is to eliminate methane produced by enteric fermentation. Methane is a small, energy-rich molecule with 86x the warming potential of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere over the next 20 years. Global livestock account for 14.5% of total anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, and cattle are the primary emitters via enteric fermentation.

We intend to make a dramatic impact on global methane emissions by stopping cattle from burping methane. We are collaborating with cattle-owners, ranchers, and scientists to do this in the fastest, cheapest, and most scalable way possible.

The Job

In this role, you will have the opportunity to create new product formulations that will manage global greenhouse gas emissions. We are a small, passionate team looking for senior experience with managing laboratories and product formulations. This role offers significant upward growth.

Responsibilities

• Designing and optimizing product formulations.
• Developing and improving formulations under performance, process, stability, and manufacturing considerations.
• Designing experimental protocols.
• Managing and implementing analytical chemistry techniques and methods (GCMS, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy).
• Managing and querying data produced from experimentation.

Requirements

• MA/PhD or BS with significant industry experience.
• 6+ years of working in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment and GMP scale-up preferred.
• Managerial experience is preferred.
• Work authorization in the United States is required.
