I saw firsthand as an operator that growth in distribution is capped almost entirely by hiring. It’s hard to find good sales talent, and even harder to retain.

  • Sales teams spend most of their day quoting, entering orders, and chasing product data instead of talking to customers.
  • Training new reps takes months, and more than 50% of the workforce will retire this decade.
  • Critical knowledge lives in inboxes or people’s heads, and disappears when they leave.

The result: companies can’t scale beyond the speed of hiring, while service slows and relationships suffer.

Avent watch every channel where customer requests arrive—email, fax, phone:

  • Quoting: When a customer asks for a price, Avent finds the correct product and pricing, generates the quote, and prepares it to send.
  • Order Entry: When the customer follows up with a purchase order (PO), Avent matches it to the earlier quote, creates the sales order, and inputs it into the company’s ledger
  • Procurement: Never lose an order. If a customer needs something that’s not in stock, Avent will find the best cost from in-network distributors and quote

Avent generates over $200,000 worth of quotes every day for distributors across North America and the UK.


The Story

I grew up in factories, and as kids my older brother and I would spend hours talking about how to take it to the next level. Every brainstorm somehow ended in the same place: hiring. Turns out, that wasn’t just our problem. It’s everyone’s problem in distribution.
