Getting parts made still takes weeks, often with high costs and inconsistent quality. Manufacturers spend days on DFM, sourcing, programming, and setup planning before production even starts. These delays slow hardware companies down and stretch product iteration cycles.
Building locally is still expensive, largely due to fragmented operations and low machine utilization. Many companies look offshore for lower pricing, but shipping timelines, tariffs, and supply chain delays often slow product development even further.
What We’re Building
Prototyping.io is building autonomous manufacturing for mechanical parts by automating the workflow between CAD designs and finished parts.
The workflow today looks like:
CAD → DFM → Planning → Sourcing → Programming → Setups → Manufacturing Execution
This workflow is being rebuilt with AI-native systems and physical AI models for manufacturing.
Our approach combines AI-driven manufacturing intelligence, workflow automation, and eventually autonomous execution through industrial robotics and highly automated production systems. The goal is to dramatically reduce lead times, improve quality consistency, and enable more efficient manufacturing at scale.
